Why Choose Clark Chiropractic Clinic for Your Chiropractic Care?

If relief is all we go after, there’s a good chance the pain comes back. Think about a house. If the foundation starts to sink on one end, problems show up in other rooms. Your spine works the same way. When one area isn’t moving the way it should, your body compensates somewhere else, and it can do that for a long time before it catches up with you. So Dr. Clark looks at the whole spine, not only the sore spot, and adjusts with a gentle pressure or thrust where the problem actually starts.

Dr. Clark: Your Experienced Chiropractor in Downers Grove, IL

Dr. Kevin Clark is a fourth-generation chiropractor and one of 12 chiropractors in his family, a line that started with his great-grandfather and includes his grandfather, three uncles, and two aunts. He was adjusted from the time he was born and grew up in a chiropractic lifestyle, where taking care of your body the natural way was just how the family lived. That upbringing is why he chose this work. His training covers the spine and nervous system along with nutrition and body mechanics, so he looks past the spot that hurts to why it started hurting.

Dr. Clark earned his business degree at St. Ambrose University, where he played on the men’s soccer team, and his Doctor of Chiropractic at Logan University. After working as an associate chiropractor in Aurora and Naperville, he opened Clark Chiropractic in 2017 with a clear picture of what he wanted: a family practice that cares for kids as well as adults.

Holistic Chiropractic Clinic Services

Care at Clark Chiropractic starts with finding out what’s actually going on. Our services include:

  • Spinal adjustments: gentle, specific adjustments to areas of the spine that are out of alignment or not moving properly. Dr. Clark matches the technique to the problem. With headaches, he’ll often start at the very top of the neck, which is called upper cervical care. With low back pain, he usually starts with Diversified or Gonstead, two hands-on methods for the full spine. Not always, though. It depends on what he finds.
  • Tailored exercise programs: exercises built around your body and your goals to strengthen muscles and hold better posture. Our front desk team shows you how to do each one so you’re doing them right at home.
  • Care for kids and infants: Dr. Clark set this up as a family practice so kids can be seen right alongside their parents, starting as early as infancy. There’s a separate pediatric new patient form so we know your child’s history before the first visit.

Whether you’re healing from a recent injury or dealing with pain that keeps coming back, each visit is built around you, because each person’s different.

Achieve Wellness at Clark Chiropractic Clinic

Relief matters, but it isn’t the finish line. Your spine protects your spinal cord, and the nerves that branch off it run to every part of your body, not just the areas that hurt. When a section of the spine isn’t moving well, it can get in the way of the signals traveling between your brain and body. An adjustment is meant to clear that path. Your body already knows how to heal. We’re just helping it remember.

Why Chiropractic Care is Essential for Your Health

Chiropractic care isn’t only for back pain. A lot of the parents we see are running on empty between work and the kids’ schedules. Here’s how Dr. Clark explains it. Your nervous system has a gas pedal and a brake. The gas pedal is fight or flight. The brake is rest, digest, heal, and it’s when your body does its repair work. Many people are stuck with the gas pedal down. A few weeks into care, patients often tell us something like, “I’ve been sleeping so much better.” Once you reach your goal, we drop your visits to a lower frequency. It’s the same reason you still take the car in for an oil change when it’s running fine.

Patient Testimonials and Success Stories

Our patients say it better than we can. Their reviews below cover everything from migraines and desk-job neck pain to a knee that got stronger with home exercises. Several also mention bringing a spouse or other family members in once they saw how their own care went.

I am very pleased with the overall service and results. I came in for chronic migraines and neck pain. Dr. Clark has made a noticeable difference in my neck mobility. There has been a huge decline in my migraine frequency and intensity after only one month of care. My neck pain is down to zero. Dr. Clark and staff are friendly and personable. They have been incredibly accommodating to my needs and schedule. My husband is seeing Dr. Clark now as well for his back pain and mobility, due to the satisfaction of service I've received."  - Taylor C.

I'm happy to have found a doctor who truly cares about his patients and the community. I spend 8+ hours a day sitting at a desk looking at a computer and have regularly had neck, back and shoulder pain. Dr. Clark listens to my concerns and I like his approach to improving my health. For the first time in years, I don’t have daily pain. Several members of my extended family also go to see Dr. Clark and his care is tailored to each of our needs—not the same treatment for everyone as I’ve witnessed in other practices. He and his staff are always friendly and accommodating to my schedule. Dr. Clark is more than a good chiropractor - he is a kind person regularly giving back to the local school district and community."  - Carol T.

I've been a patient of Dr. Clark for a couple of years now, and I can't say enough good things about him. He's personable, experienced and sympathetic to the needs of his patients. I had experienced trauma to my back last year and could barely move my neck without extreme pain. He helped me get through it in a few weeks. I thought the pain would never end, and he was my life-saver. I highly recommend him. He's great!"  - Joy C.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is Clark Chiropractic’s approach to chiropractic care?
A: We look at the whole person, not only the spot that hurts. Dr. Clark pairs spinal adjustments with exercises built around your goals, and he chooses his techniques case by case.
Q: Can chiropractic care improve health even if there’s no pain or injury?
A: Yes. Many patients keep coming in at a lower frequency after their pain is gone, to keep their spine and joints moving well. A person in good shape still goes to the gym, and the idea here is the same. Regular care may also help lower your risk of future injuries.
Q: What kinds of pain and injuries does your chiropractic clinic handle?
A: We commonly see neck pain, headaches, sciatica, and low back pain, along with upper and mid back pain, pain that runs from the neck down the arm, shoulder problems, and knee pain. We care for patients from infants to older adults. Fractures and acute injuries from trauma are referred out, and if your case needs a surgeon, Dr. Clark will tell you and help you through that decision.
Q: What is the process for my first chiropractic adjustment?
A: Your first visit is a full evaluation. Dr. Clark goes over your health history and old injuries, then checks your posture, how far you can move, and your spine by hand. We also run two scans. Thermography reads the temperature along your spine, where extra heat can point to irritation. EMG measures how your posture muscles are working while you’re at rest. X-rays are taken only if they’re needed. At your second visit, he walks you through what he found and your care plan, and your first adjustment happens then.
Q: What role does rehabilitation play in chiropractic care at your clinic?
A: A big one. Adjustments help your spine move better, and exercises help your muscles hold that change. Dr. Clark builds an exercise plan around your body and goals, and our front desk team shows you how to do each one correctly. They’ll also help you on our traction table, which gently moves your spine segment by segment while you lie on it.
Q: How does your chiropractic clinic incorporate a holistic approach in its wellness programs?
A: Holistic care means looking at what else affects how you feel: how you sleep, how you sit at work, what you eat, and how much stress you carry. Dr. Clark grew up in a family that lived this way, and he’ll talk through those habits with you along with your adjustments.
Q: Are chiropractic adjustments effective for chronic knee pain?
A: They can help. Knee pain doesn’t always start at the knee. Your hips and low back affect how the knee carries weight, so Dr. Clark checks above the knee too. Care usually pairs adjustments with strengthening exercises. Results vary from person to person, and he’ll give you a straight answer after your evaluation.
Q: Can chiropractic adjustments help with sciatica pain?
A: It can. Sciatica is often tied to pressure on a nerve in the low back. Adjustments aim to get that area moving and take pressure off the nerve, and exercises help keep it from coming back. After your evaluation, Dr. Clark will tell you whether chiropractic is a good fit or whether you should see another provider.
About Downers Grove, IL
Your Downers Grove Chiropractor on 83rd Street

If you live in Downers Grove, our office is closer than the address makes it look. From downtown Downers Grove, it's about five miles south, most of it straight down Lemont Road to 83rd Street. The building sits at 2815 83rd St, the corner where Downers Grove, Woodridge, and Darien meet, so the mailing address reads Darien even though Downers Grove is right across the street.

Many of our Downers Grove patients live on the south side of town, in the neighborhoods along 63rd Street and the south end of Main Street. Dr. Clark and his wife, Genevieve, live in Downers Grove too and are raising their three boys here, so it's their neighborhood as much as ours.

That's also where the sports side of the practice comes in. Downers Grove South draws its students from these same neighborhoods. Between the South Mustangs and the North Trojans, fall soccer and football give way to winter basketball, then spring baseball and softball, with the crosstown games along the way. Dr. Clark played college soccer, so he knows what a long season does to a young athlete's knees and low back. For a high school player, the approach is the same as for anyone else: Dr. Clark finds out why it hurts, corrects what's causing it, and gives them exercises to keep it from coming back. Parents in the stands who still run or lift get the same care.
